Tadka dal with rice

Hope you people are liking my blog. I am really excited to share more recipes with you. I hope it is helpful. I would like to share some easy recipes which are used in day to day meals such as dal rice vegetables etc. Yes also some different types of parathas such as aloo paratha, methi paratha paneer paratha or egg paratha.

Today's recipe is Dal tadka with rice
1 small cup Rice
1 small cup lentil dal
1 onion
1 Tomato.
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp redchilli powder.
2 tsp salt.
1 chilli green or red

Boil dal and rice.
Lets start with our tadka dal
Boil the dal and keep it aside.
Now take a pan,pour 1 tbsp oil, once it gets hot add 1 tsp mustard  ,little asafoetida or Hing,1 tsp Cumin and small pieces of chilli. Once mustard starts bursting, add small pieces of onion in it.Stir everything ,keep the lid on it and let it cook for 2 minutes.Add small pieces of Tomatoes to pan.Add turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and garam masala, mix everything well.Let it cook for 2 minutes with lid on.Now add boiled dal to this mixture and stir it thoroughly. Let it cook for 5 minutes with lid on.
Your delicious Tadka dal is ready.
Have it hot with rice or Chapati.
Suggestions for boiling:
If you are using pressure cooker , you can boil both rice and dal at the same time .Take 2 cups of water in a cooker .Wash the dal throughly  and place in the cooker Then wash the rice throughly and place it above dal's vessel in a similar manner .Close the cooker and let it cook till it whistles 2 times.
You can boil rice by simply putting it in the microwave for 20 minutes.
Or if you are not using any one of this,simply put it on gas with a lid on,it will take hardly 20 to 25 minutes to cook both dal and rice.
I understand that everybody knows how to boil but I am writing for youngsters who have never cooked so thought of giving little more information.
