Today I am writing about red powder, called podi, which is served with idli.
You can have it with ghee or oil. Many people usually have idli or Dosa with some podi sprinkled on it. Its super delicious. This is our Hemunani's recipe. She has spent more then 10 years in South India, hence her podi and sambhar masala recipes are very tasty.
Podi
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup chana dal
1/2 cup udad dal
5/6 red chillies
1 tsp hing
2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste.
Roast chanadal and udaddal till it turns brown. Then, roast red chillies adding 2 tbsp oil.
Put everything into a grinder and grind to make a smooth powder. Pass it through a sieve. Add hing and salt to taste. Your podi is ready.
You can have it with idli/dosa.
With or without ghee or oil.
Its delicious and fast to make.
It lasts at least 6 /7 months in fridge.
